Jonathan Livingstone is to take up his Curacy at St Mary’s, Hamilton and will be ordained Deacon at St Mary’s Cathedral on Sunday 1st October at 6.30pm to which you are all invited.
Jonathan tells something about himself……..
I was born in Edinburgh whilst my family lived in Peebles and they moved then moved to Perth when I was two. I am the youngest of four – with two sisters and a brother (and now a wonderful sister-in-law). I greatly appreciate all their love and support as I train for ministry. Many people and events have influenced me throughout my life but my Mum has to be the greatest influence.
Throughout my school years I had thought to go on to Art College but at the last minute I decided St Andrews University was my favoured option so matriculating in 2002 I graduated 4 years later – MA (Hons) Theological Studies – having had an amazing experience!
Then moving to Edinburgh I started working at Harvey Nichols. It was a fantastic place to start my working life and I made some dear friendships. It was at that time I began seriously considering my future so being heavily involved in Old St Paul’s Church and having many conversations with my Rector I began the discernment process towards priesthood.
Since 2013 I have been a resident community member at Emmaus House (see www.emmaushouse-edinburgh.co.uk for more info) and that has synchronised well with ministerial training.
My training has been truly formational. In addition to the academic and practical components the primary highlight is being part of a wonderful community of individuals and getting to know so many new people throughout the Province.
We are looking forward to welcoming Jonathan to the Diocese and St. Mary’s, Hamilton.
The Dean.
