The Most Rev Mark Strange, Bishop of Moray, Ross & Caithness and Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church says “As we witnessed the harrowing scenes of destruction during the height of the fire at Notre Dame and as we saw the shock and pain evident on the faces of Parisians and visitors alike, our hearts and our prayers went out to all for whom this is a significant loss.
“Watching the destruction of somewhere that has represented the faith and strength of a community that has been the backdrop to history, offering moments of joy and moments of mourning, reminds us of the emotions we all have in our spiritual places. It is particularly poignant that this has happened at the start of Holy Week.
May God bless those who will now begin to discern how to bring life back to that wonderful building and place of prayer and worship.”
