Closure of General Synod Office

The General Synod Office of the Scottish Episcopal Church in Edinburgh was closed today until further notice, as a response to the latest government guidelines on the coronavirus pandemic.

In a message to GSO staff, provincial boards and committees, and diocesan offices, John Stuart, Secretary General, says that staff are now working from home and should be contacted by e-mail in the first instance. The full text of the message appears below.

To Members of Provincial Boards, Committees and other bodies

Cc General Synod Office Staff, Diocesan Secretaries and Offices

In the light of the current coronavirus lockdown, the General Synod Office is now closed.

Most of our staff have been working from home since earlier this month but we have maintained a very small ongoing presence within the office until today. Clearly, that is no longer permissible or advisable.

Most staff are able to work from home and access emails and that is the preferred manner of communication at this time. Please do not phone the office. If you need to contact a member of staff and do not have their email address, please use office@scotland.anglican.org which will be monitored on a regular basis.

In the event of a communications enquiry which requires an urgent response Donald Walker, Director of Communications, can be contacted on 07736 042850.

Thank you for your understanding and patience in these unprecedented times.

Best wishes

John Stuart
