The Scottish Episcopal Church and the Church of Scotland have invited the Rev Lorenzo Lebrija (Founding Director of TryTank, The Episcopal Church, USA) to share with us in person the journey of TryTank: the Experimental Lab for Church Growth and Innovation.
Rev Lebrija will attend two ecumenical workshop at The Scottish Story Telling Centre, 43–45 High St, Edinburgh on Saturday 19 March, one in the morning from 9.30am to 1pm and another in the afternoon from 2pm to 5.30pm.
Rev Lebrija will:
- share learning from the TryTank initiative that we might contextualise to Scotland
- help us build a ‘risk, fail, learn’ culture
- familiarise us with Design Thinking
- inspire us to bold experimentation
The event is open for all to attend – see further details below – with the provincial Mission Board keen to encourage SEC representation at an occasion it hopes will enthuse and challenge participants. Booking is via Eventbrite www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/a-culture-of-innovation-with-rev-lorenzo-lebrijatickets-263762600037
Building on the commitment of the St Andrew Declaration, this will be the start of a process of discussion within and between both denominations where we seek to learn from what TryTank is doing within The Episcopal Church and ask ourselves what a similar process might look like for us in Scotland.
Please note that the Saturday afternoon workshop is designed for those under 40 or those who are involved in facilitating the development of leadership and ministry by those under 40.
As the workshops will be interactive, it will not be suitable for livestreaming. It will only be possible to attend in-person in Edinburgh. It is possible that a recording of Rev Lebrija’s input will be made available after the event.
