The state funeral of Her Majesty The Queen takes place at 11am today at Westminster Abbey in London.
Bishop Mark Strange, Primus, will represent the Scottish Episcopal Church at the service. He is one of three leaders who will represent in the churches of Scotland in the funeral procession, along with The Rt Rev Dr Iain Greenshields, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, and The Most Rev Leo Cushley, Archbishop of St Andrews and Edinburgh.
“I cannot express how honoured I feel to be here and how emotional it has become,” said the Primus. “I am very aware of not being here simply as Bishop Mark but as the Primus representing the whole of our Scottish Episcopal Church.
“I have brought prayers from so many people and I will offer our love and thankfulness in this service.
“Please find a space to pray with me today as we say farewell to Queen Elizabeth, Queen of Scots and faithful servant of God.”
The service will be conducted by The Very Rev Dr David Hoyle, Dean of Westminster. The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend and Right Honourable Justin Welby, will preach the sermon and will lead the commendation.
There will be a two-minute silence at the end of the service, at approximately 11:55am.
