Consecration of new Bishop of Argyll & The Isles

The consecration of The Rev David Railton as the new Bishop of Argyll & The Isles is to take place on Wednesday 28 August at St John’s Cathedral, Oban, starting at 11.30am.

The service will be live streamed on the Scottish Episcopal Church’s Facebook page, and via provincial live stream channels. In addition to this, a recording will be made available following the service.

The new Bishop will celebrate and preach at St John’s Cathedral on Sunday 1 September, at which all are welcome. At a later date he will also be enthroned at The Cathedral of The Isles on Cumbrae.

David was elected as the new Bishop in May 2024, and is currently Rector of the linked charges of Holy Trinity in Dunoon and St Paul’s in Rothesay.
