Daily Prayer for experimental use published

The College of Bishops has authorised a revised Daily Prayer for Experimental Use, running from Advent Sunday 2024 until General Synod 2030. After some unavoidable delays, the revised Daily Prayer is now available.

The Primus, the Most Rev Mark Strange said: “I’m delighted to report that after months of work, the revised Daily Prayer for the SEC is now in the process of experimental use. The revision is the result of many conversations and feedback over the years about the form we currently use, and I thank the Liturgy Committee for their hard work in preparing the revised text. Now it is up to us to have the courage to use it fully, to discover its richness, and to continue together in daily prayer.”

It is expected that the physical copies of Daily Prayer will arrive in the General Synod Office in the next week or two, and a copy will be sent to all clergy and lay readers.

Additional copies can be ordered using the form here at £9.00 each (the same price as the existing Daily Prayer books), with discounts for larger orders.

Online, the revised Daily Prayer can be found in the Experimental Liturgies page on the Scottish Episcopal Church website here.

Additionally, the online Daily Offices will be updated to reflect the revised liturgy. For Advent, this will take the form of a link to a PDF of each day’s Office on the relevant Daily Office page.
