The Church in Society Committee of the Scottish Episcopal Church is encouraging applications to the Enable Grant funding scheme to support projects which work to enable life in all its fullness for children, young people and their families.
The Enable Grant, which was previously known as the Child Poverty Grant, can be used to access up to £5000 in any one year. The Church in Society committee is keen to fund a wide range of initiatives and there are no prescribed types of project.
The church recognises that child poverty is a wide-ranging and complex issue and encourages its congregations to work with other partners whether ecumenically, with other faiths or with secular groups/agencies.
The Rev Simon Scott, Convener of the Committee, said: “We want to work with you to make a difference in your community. The Enable Grant scheme was set up to address increasing poverty amongst families. The identity of the funding shows its purpose: the enable our congregations to develop new projects to address need in their communities, or to support existing projects with an SEC connection.
“We know from conversations with congregations across Scotland that there is a need, and we are keen to explore how Enable Grant funding can support your local work. The criteria has been developed so that a wide range of projects are eligible. I would encourage all SEC clergy, leaders and vestries to look at the criteria and examine how this funding could make a difference in your community.”
As long as your group has a connection to one of our SEC congregations and is meeting a real need in your community (expecting to impact on the lives of children, young people and their families), your application will be considered. Please see the following documents for more information:
