Glasgow’s Nigerian Community Celebrates Baptisms and Confirmations with Bishop Nick

In July, Bishop Nick presided at the monthly service of the Nigerian Anglican Community in St Serf’s, Shettleston (pictured above). The joyful occasion included several baptisms and confirmations, drawing well over one hundred people—about a third of them children. By the end of the service, every seat was taken and only standing room remained.

The Bishop was greeted with a ceremonial saber arch formed by two of the community’s knights, before the Rev. Chuks Iwuagwu led the congregation in powerful prayers and vibrant praise. After the service, photographs were taken with the Bishop, the newly baptised and confirmed, and their families. The celebration then continued with a feast of Nigerian food and drinks, shared by all in a spirit of fellowship and thanksgiving.
