New Priest in Charge Appointed for Holy Trinity, Motherwell and St Andrew’s, Wishaw

The Rt Rev Dr Nicholas Bundock, Bishop of the United Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway, is pleased to announce the appointment of the Rev Chuks Iwuagwu as Priest-in-Charge (0.25fte) of Holy Trinity, Motherwell and St Andrew’s, Wishaw. His licensing will be on Friday 19 December at 7pm in Holy Trinity Church, Crawford Street, Motherwell ML1 3AD.

Chuks says, “I am humbled and grateful that the wonderful people of Motherwell and Wishaw are happy to invite Adanna, our children, and me to become part of their long-standing faithful community. When I was ordained in 2011, my retreatant, Bishop Idris Jones, reminded me that my role as a presbyter is to open doors and allow God’s people to come in and meet with their God. I have held that charge to heart and working with the vestries and congregations, I will be seeking, by God’s grace, to fling all the doors in the charges in Motherwell and Wishaw open in the name of Jesus, that all of God’s people in those lovely towns, no matter who they are, where they come from and where they may be, may come in and meet with their God.”

Bishop Nick says, “There was a real sense of hope in the room at the interview, and a deep awareness of God’s presence with the representatives of Holy Trinity and St Andrew’s. It felt as though the Spirit was drawing us together into a shared future. I’m grateful to Chuks for his openness and faithfulness throughout the process, and I’m confident that his ministry will help these two congregations grow in health, courage and love.”

Please pray for Chuks, his family, and the communities of Holy Trinity and St Andrew’s as they prepare for this new chapter.
