The election of a new bishop for the Diocese of Edinburgh will take place on Saturday 14 February at a meeting of the electoral synod.
The results of the election will be communicated the following day, Sunday 15 February on Diocesan and Provincial websites and social media channels, as well as directly to all charges of the Edinburgh Diocese.
Please pray for all those involved in the electoral process: the candidates, the electoral synod members, Diocesan staff and administrators, and all those who have supported the Diocese throughout the vacancy. Please also pray for the Diocese of Edinburgh as it enters this new phase of its Diocesan life.
The Diocese has provided the following prayer for use:
Living God,
you walk with us in all seasons of life
calling us to follow you with joy, hope and love
as we share in your work of renewing the world;
give us humility and discernment to hear your voice,
that those discerning their calling
and all involved in our bishop search
may be encouraged in your ways
and open to your creative Spirit. Amen.
The vacant See arose after the retirement of Bishop John Armes last year, at which time the Primus, the Bishop of Moray, Ross & Caithness became Acting Bishop of Edinburgh.
