The Right Reverend Kevin Pearson will become the 15th Bishop of the United Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway on the 1 July 2020.

The original plans to welcome Bishop Kevin to the Diocese with a service at St Mary’s Cathedral on the 4 July had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown.

However, by 1 July, and in lieu of the planned service, all members of the College of Bishops will have signed the Deed which fulfils Canon Law to make Bishop Kevin the Bishop of Glasgow and Galloway.

Our diocesan celebration will take place on digital channels over the next weeks. The time for a welcome gathering will, eventually, follow.

If you wish to participate in the digital welcome of Bishop Kevin – please email our Digital Missioner (digitalmissioner@glasgow.anglican.org) for details.

Episcopalians from the Diocese and the Province, ecumenical and interfaith friends from near and far, as well as people from Scotland and the wider world are encouraged to email photos, videos and text of their welcome for Bishop Kevin and their hopes, dreams (and ideas!) for his ministry with us.

The materials received will form parts of the diocesan welcome for Bishop Kevin. Please contact the Digital Missioner by 10pm on Monday, 29 June, to be included in the initial welcome celebration. Any emails received after that date will be shared with Bishop Kevin but might not be used.

Please continue praying for Bishop Kevin and his wife Elspeth, as well as the people of our sister Diocese of Argyll and The Isles, the College of Bishops and the Scottish Episcopal Church.
