Join Call to Prayer, Sunday 30 May at 7pm

The Scottish Episcopal Church and other denominations join together in prayer on Sunday at 7pm, as they have done throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

Many of those joining together on Trinity Sunday in prayer, which appears below in English and Gaelic, will also light candles.

In a joint message, church leaders in Scotland said:

“The vision of the Lord offered by the prophet Isaiah is one in which the presence of the living God fills the Temple and we hear resounding from every corner the cry:

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty;
The whole earth is full of his glory

“The Temple itself is shaken as the fulness of God’s presence is revealed. The prophet Isaiah can do no more than acknowledge who he is before God. Yet, even as he senses his own weakness, he hears the voice of the Lord calling: ‘Whom shall I send?’ In response, Isaiah says: ‘Here am I. Send me!’

“Today, in the midst of all we face, the fulness of the living God is made known to us in Creation and revealed through Jesus Christ as our Redeemer and by the Holy Spirit as our Sustainer. In our weakness, we also may hear the voice of the Lord calling: ‘Whom shall I send?’ In response, we also may say: ‘Here am I. Send me!’”

We pray:

Holy, holy, holy
Is the Lord Almighty;
Living God, may your presence be known to us
Even in our weakness.
May we know you as your presence is revealed
And as your calling is renewed.
Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

Holy, holy, holy
Is the Lord Almighty;
Living God, may your presence be known to us
In all the gifts of Creation.
May we receive these gifts as a sacred trust
And treasure all that you have given to us.
Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

Holy, holy, holy
Is the Lord Almighty;
Living God, may your presence be known to us
In the One whom you have sent to redeem us.
May we share in the life of Christ
And in the life of the body of Christ.
Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

Holy, holy, holy
Is the Lord Almighty;
Living God, may your presence be known to us
In the One whom you have poured out upon us.
May we be renewed by the Spirit
And share in the life the Spirit gives to us.
Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

Holy, holy, holy
Is the Lord Almighty;
Living God, may your presence be known to us
In our worship in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
May you receive us as we are
And accept us in our weakness.
Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

Gairm gu ùrnaigh: Latha na Sàbaid, 30mh dhen Chèitean (Sàbaid na Trianaid), ùrnaigh aig 7f

Chunnaic am fàidh Isaiah sealladh anns an robh làthaireachd an Dè bheò a’ lìonadh an Teampaill, agus chuala e guthan a’ seinn:

Is naomh, naomh, naomh Tighearna nan sluagh;
tha an talamh uile làn de a ghlòir.

Chrith an Teampall fhèin nuair chaidh làthaireachd Dhè a foillseachadh. Tha Isaiah a’ tuigsinn gur ann fa chomhair an Tighearna a tha e, ach fiù ’s fhad ’s a tha e ag aideachadh a chuid laigseanan, chuala e guth an Tighearna ag ràdh, “Cò leis a chuireas mi fios? Agus cò a thèid air ar son?” Agus tha Isaiah ag ràdh, “Feuch, tha mise an seo, cuir fios leamsa.”

An-diugh, anns an teanntachd mhòr anns a bheil sinn, tha gràsan Dè nan lànachd air am foillseachadh dhuinn anns a’ Chruthachadh, agus air an dearbhadh tro Ìosa Crìosd ar Fear-Saoraidh, agus leis an Spiorad Naomh, ar Comhfhurtair. Tha sinn ag aideachadh gu bheil sinn lag, ach nuair a chluinneas sinn guth an Tighearna ag ràdh “Cò leis a chuireas mi fios? Agus cò a thèid air ar son?” canaidh sinn mar aon, “Feuch, tha mise an seo, cuir fios leamsa.”

Dèanamaid ùrnaigh.

Is naomh, naomh, naomh
Tighearna nan sluagh;
A Dhè Bheò, deònaich dhuinn eòlas air do làthaireachd,
fiù ’s nuair a bhios sinn lag.
Deònaich gum faigh sinn eòlas ort, agus thusa air d’ fhoillseachadh dhuinn nad ghràs,
gar gairm as ùr.
A Thighearna, na do thròcair,
èist ri ar n-ùrnaigh.

Is naomh, naomh, naomh
Tighearna nan sluagh;
A Dhè Bheò, deònaich dhuinn eòlas air do làthaireachd,
trod obraichean ann an Nàdar.
Deònaich gun gabh sinn ri do Chruthachadh mar thiodhlac naomh,
agus gun toir sinn an aire air gach rud a thug thu dhuinn.
A Thighearna, na do thròcair,
èist ri ar n-ùrnaigh.

Is naomh, naomh, naomh
Tighearna nan sluagh;
A Dhè Bheò, deònaich dhuinn eòlas air do làthaireachd,
tro bheatha do Mhic a thàinig gus ar sàbhaladh.
Deònaich gun gabh sinn pàirt ann am beatha Crìosd
agus ann am beatha na h-eaglaise, a bhodhaig.
A Thighearna, na do thròcair,
èist ri ar n-ùrnaigh.

Is naomh, naomh, naomh
Tighearna nan sluagh;
A Dhè Bheò, deònaich dhuinn eòlas air do làthaireachd,
trod Spiorad, a dhòirt thu a-nuas oirnn.
Deònaich gum bi sinn air ar ath-nuadhachadh leis an Spiorad
agus gun gabh sinn pàirt ann am fìor-bheatha an Spioraid.
A Thighearna, na do thròcair,
èist ri ar n-ùrnaigh.

Is naomh, naomh, naomh
Tighearna nan sluagh;
A Dhè Bheò, deònaich dhuinn eòlas air do làthaireachd,
nuair a nì sinn adhradh còmhla ann an ainm an Athar, a’ Mhic agus an Spioraid Naoimh.
Gabh rinn, a Thighearna, mar a tha sinn,
gabh rinn, fann agus briste,
agus slànaich sinn.
A Thighearna, na do thròcair,
èist ri ar n-ùrnaigh.
