The next stage of the Net Zero Action Plan for the Scottish Episcopal Church is now being rolled out, with the recruitment of Net Zero officers to provide practical help and support to charges at local level.
The appointments will enable the Net Zero Delivery Director and the Provincial Environment Group to create an effective Net Zero Team to help deliver change across the Church and support the implementation of the targets in the Net Zero Action Plan 2023-30.
Five new posts have been created, and the recruitment of the first three members of the team has begun. Advertisements have been placed seeking a New Zero Innovation Co-ordinator, a Net Zero Empowerment Co-ordinator, and a Carbon Projects and Data Officer.
Two further roles – Sustainability and Heat/Energy – will be advertised in the coming weeks.
The five Team members who are hired by the province will offer their expertise to all dioceses of the Church, with each diocese having equal access to the officers. The team will be managed provincially by the Net Zero Delivery Director who will ensure that each diocese has at least one officer as a key contact for direct advice, guidance and support.
