St Columba’s by the Castle was buzzing over the weekend of October 26-27, as young Episcopalians from across Scotland gathered in Edinburgh for a Provincial Youth Sleepover. Hosted by the Diocese of Edinburgh, the event brought together young people for a weekend of fellowship and worship.
On Saturday afternoon the event began with a choice of axe-throwing or an escape room challenge. The participants spent the night in St Columba’s hall, and the event concluded on Sunday morning with the young people leading worship. This worship service was a powerful way to end the weekend.
Fee Reynolds, the event’s coordinator, and the Diocesan Advisor for Christian Life said: “It was fabulous having such a large group of young people and leaders in St Columba’s for the recent sleepover. Whilst there was a lot of fun to be had—and we all need fun and friendship in our lives!—it was also incredibly moving to take part in Sunday worship co-created and co-lead by the young people and leaders. Indeed, it was a real joy to witness the willingness and enthusiasm with which even our youngest participants led worship, and to see the whole congregation fully engage with their offering. Truly a service to remember.”
