The Most Rev Mark Strange, Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church has contributed to a video prayer journal produced by Scottish church leaders as part of the global ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ prayer initiative.

The Primus’ contribution is for day 6 of the programme, which runs from today, Ascension Day (9 May) to Pentecost (Sunday 19 May). The Primus’ theme is “The God Who Walks With Us”. In his contribution he reads from the short publication: Daily Prayer, and speaks about how praying the daily office is a grounding part of the cycle of his spiritual life as he travels around his Diocese and further afield.

Thy Kingdom Come is a global ecumenical prayer initiative that invites Christians around the world to pray from Ascension to Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus. It began in 2016, initiated by the Archbishops of Canterbury & York, and according to the Thy Kingdom Come website has reached: “more than a million Christians in prayer, in nearly 90% of countries worldwide, across 85 different denominations and traditions.”

In 2024 Scottish church leaders were invited to contribute in the form of a prayer journal, with various denominations taking on the daily themes. In addition to Bishop Mark, the church leaders involved are:
